It has been brought to my attention that we are not getting the information out as to our requirements when we close the range down for one of our monthly shoots. As chairman this responsibility is mine and I want to apologize to anyone that has been turned away from shooting because they did not know what our requirements were.
The Monthly Calendar will specify when a group is using the range, one first needs to read the Monthly Calendar. On a day when the Spokane Falls Muzzle Loaders has the club for a monthly match we will have the 100yd range closed from 10:00-4:30 during Summer Hours, 9:00-3:30 during the Winter. We will also close the 25 yd pistol range from 12:00 to 1:00 during the Summer and 11:00 to 12:00 during the Winter. Reasons for changing hours basically revolves around having decent shooting light and the change of the clocks from standard to daylight savings. It is posted on the calendar that we use the 2nd Sunday of each month for our Monthly Shoot, the exception is the month of May where the 2nd Sunday falls on Mother’s Day and in respect to all the mothers out there we move to the 3rd Sunday.
I will add one last word of mention, it has been the experience of myself and a number of range officers that although the club opens at 8:00 and there is a period of time between opening and when the Spokane Falls Muzzle Loaders close the range for their monthly match members have requested use of the club. It has proven to be much simpler to close the range from opening until 4:30 and 3:30 respectively. This approach is due to members not living up to their word and only using the range for a few rounds and extending the time allowed up into the reserved time mentioned on the Calendar.
Fraternally,
Dick Lewis
Muzzle Loader Chairman
